I use this app before most of my purchases. It has helped me make better decisions for every product I buy. It’s so helpful and easy to use.

As a new mom who needs to adjust to a new life with a baby, this app helps me big time when I need a cleaning or baby products. I double check the rating, and don’t buy anything that’s not in the green. I don’t get lost in researching ingredients which can be really overwhelming so I appreciate the database. I don’t use the app other than a quick search to see product rating and I think all the low star reviews just complaining about the glitches are kind of unfair compared to the overall quality of information in there.

Finding this app was so great. It made it easy to check on products your buying and if the product is not there you can give them the information so they can add it to the app information.

Good EWG ratings can be purchased, EWG has sold out. Research it. No thanks! And I don't need EWG giving me unsolicited advice (in the form of push notifications) recommending big Pharma medications. That's an immediate uninstall in my book. Bye!

Claim to support healthy living but refuse to even speculate the safety and efficacy of vaccinations. Also, the app has very minimal products on there, mostly just products they have partnerships with.

I just purchased a product that EWG rated as one of their preferred. With their stamp of approval. When I received the product there is fragrance listed(parfum) EWG didn’t list it. Fragrance is a toxin. So I will no longer trust their ratings. I feel that they are bias to companies they are affiliated with. I’ll def go back to think dirty. So disappointed.

I searched baby diapers less than a month ago, there were multiple brands. Now there are only 2-3 EWG brands. Where did the other reviews go??

This app is not user friendly at all. I try to scan products when I'm in a store and most products in the US are not found by the app. The process of 'submitting' a new product is not worth the time or effort of any sane human being. They want a photo of front, back, left, right, top, and bottom. Yeah right! Then they want the exact name of the product and a description. Who, in their right mind, would even think of going through all of this? Then, you don't even know if they will add this product after all the work you've done. How NOT to design an app! I have scanning apps that make this process much easier. One photo and they find the product online for you. Learn from these developers.

I used to be able to look up specific ingredients, but not any more. I guess it’s great if the product is already in their system.

The app is not user friendly, as it is not easy to navigate. The bar scan has never worked for me and I have to input the product name which does not always work. Sometimes it is difficult to find the product due to how the product was input in the app. I find Yuka easier to use even though it is not as accurate as EWG.

Explain to me why EWG verified products often have "high concern" ratings? You would assume you could just go by the fact that it's "EWG Verified" but if you tap on the product and then the ingredients, OFTEN I've seen high concerns for several ingredients.

Love that it is free and is a wealth of information. Love that it allows you to upload things not yet listed. But I swear, if they start getting political I’m gonna lose it. Been getting some kind of stereotypical politically charged podcast pushed on me the last few times I’ve used it. Companies should always know that’s a horrible idea.

Love ability to quickly check products before shopping

Great information but really useful would be a history of recent (or not) scans. Could be turned off for very privacy-conscious folks.

great concept for an app and very helpful; however, user product submissions don’t save for some reason and fixing this would likely greatly expand the data base

Initially when I signed up the app worked amazing. But recently the app shows no result for any search and just goes to donation which I have already made but it seems there is a glitch in the app. Please help to fix the issue.

Everything I scan, the product cannot be found. I have some luck searching for the product manually but somethings seem outdated so I’m not really sure if the information is still accurate.

Paid for area water test results that were not available need my money back

This app does not show your zip code water contamination of chemicals. Not useful to me otherwise.

I have submitted at least a dozen products on this app yet the app shows none of my submission. I am very skeptical of this app.

Disappointed with the app. Downloaded the Yuka app and the information is clear and almost every product I scan has a rating.

I love the app and really appreciate everything that’s on there and letting everything be none especially what’s cancer causing but there are more things that I look up that are not on here than that are and I’ve submitted a bunch of products with photos “front,back,left,right, top, and bottom but none of them have actually been submitted so I don’t know what’s going on there or why but would love for this to be looked into so I can further help the community of the world!! And future generations!! I have told numerous people about this app and online website and really want to help improve it and peoples health! The app doesn’t always let me click on a product to see the info about it, I don’t know if they limit this? But when I first got the app I could look at anything and now I can click one thing and see the ingredients, but that’s the only time I can check ingredients that day, it won’t let me click another product after that. Which really serves to limit the usefulness of the app, because if I can’t click the product I can’t add it to a list either.

This app really puts into perspective how toxic our everyday products actually are. The only suggestion I would have for the app creators is, when a product has a bad rating to put an alternative.

EWG isn’t a company run on integrity, according to my findings. I cannot trust their perception or interpretation of ingredient safety, unfortunately. Abusing their podium, IMHO.

This app could be so much better. Things often do not come up after scanning but then I'm able to find them if I type in the name. Also, a product such as Ecos Laundry detergent comes up as a C but no clear reason is given. And many products seem to have arbitrary ratings and it almost seems like there is some kind of bias involved. It just doesn't make sense at times so if you're rating a product a certain way, please give more detailed explanations as to why. Then we will know what ingredients to be aware of and the issues with them.

I need an app that tells me what products contain a specific ingredient. My allergy is propylene glycol.

When searching up an item it is difficult to find because it seems to be case sensitive. Also scanning items works half the time and have to submit it, when I look at submitted items it never says that I did.

First off, I want to say the information they provide about toxic chemicals in our food, beauty products, etc is invaluable and highly appreciated. But unfortunately they make it really hard to access which is frustrating. Their website is divided into a million categories and not user-friendly. So I was excited to see the app come out but it has a whole other set of issues. Firstly, every single time I use it I can’t click on things. Different things, random things. Sometimes I can’t click on any of the products in the search results to see more info on their score. Sometimes when inside a product I can’t click on any of the ingredients to see why they are rated that way. Ironically, today I can’t click on the “Rate this app” section of the menu. 😂 Sometimes closing the app and reopening it a few times works, sometimes I just have to try a different day. Two, there is no access to any type of customer support in the app. Other than the above mentioned “rate this app” there is no link to contact them in any way. Third, as others have mentioned the barcode scanner doesn’t work either - bringing up wrong products or saying that very common products (like Banana Boat Sunscreen) are not in the database. Lastly, I think some of their ratings are far too harsh. For example, literally anything with fragrance is given a red 8 because of “allergy concerns.” Personally I think allergy concerns shouldn’t be a part of the rating. Most people aren’t allergic to fragrances or other random ingredients in products. I want to know what is going to give me cancer or disturb my immune system or endocrine system - not that some few random people are allergic to an ingredient. I’m sure a small percentage of the world is allergic to every ingredient, heck people are allergic to sunshine. That shouldn’t be such a major contributor to a bad score. So I still appreciate the app because when I can actually click on things it’s great. I can just ignore the fragrance ding on any product I’m looking at.

This app is just OK as is – the search feature is fairly mediocre and you often have to look really hard to find the product you’re actually looking up. Currently the app is not functioning and will not allow you to select an item to look at the actual details and information that show the ingredients and reasoning for the subsequent rating.

Helpful in weeding out the good the bad and the ugly. I especially like where you can scan the item when you’re out shopping.

Love the app for the most part. I wish the search feature was easier to use. After I find a product with the search tool, I’m unable to click on it to save to my lists or look at a product’s rating more thoroughly.

I appreciate the scores for certain items but there’s no explanation. I click on the item searched and nothing happens. I just see the score. There aren’t as many items as I had hoped. Also, the organization of items is… really needing help. Someone needs to get in and make huge improvements to make it more user friendly. Deleting.

Can’t log in, terrible explanations

I really have come to depend on EWG after having a cancer scare. That being said, I was glad for this app because it made the process easier in looking things up, especially as products change their ingredients at times. I wish the app let you specifically look up ingredients like the website does. And the issue i keep having is this app freezes and it makes it impossible to select any product to view details, etc. without having to close the completely and start over again

I really want to love this app, but I can’t seem to scan anything because most barcodes are small than what the scanner is looking for

When I use my camera to scan products, the barcode blurs. Other similar apps, barcodes read fine. This app is great otherwise but not having the ability to scan products is an issue.

Love the idea of this app, however, there are some basic UX bugs that need to be fixed (when searching a EWG product, you can’t click on the populated items on the list for further info). I also feel like the inventory of products that have been rated needs to be broader. But love that this app exists!

App glitches once you begin to scroll through product search and doesn’t allow you to select a product to review. Can only select first product that pops up. Please fix

Ironic that products with ingredients that earn an F or D, will still earn an EWG verification. But products without questionable ingredients will receive a lower rating. The system seems flawed, but I appreciate the effort to improve transparency and consumer protection.

When using the search feature it will populate items but more often than not will not allow you to click for more details on said searched item. After closing out and restarting the app will it sometimes work. Very frustrating and wastes a lot of time. Many popular/ big name brands/ items also can’t be found.

You can search for things but not always click on them to view the ingredients rating. Please fix this!

This is the best tool to have when shopping. So much of what we consume these days seem questionable. This app helps you make informed decisions about your health. Love it

The concept is great however the execution needs work. You can’t view multiple product details at a time. You have to close the app, restart it and type in the next product. If you click on more than one product detail it doesn’t do anything. Nothing pops up and it doesn’t redirect to the product details.

This app would work much better if the barcode scanner worked. It is incredibly time-consuming to go through the store and go through each item by typing it into the search bar. It’s also very frustrating that nothing is an alphabetical order when you do a search.
